Teacher Week - All About Me!

First off, thanks for hopping by for Day 1 of Teacher Week '13 hosted by Blog Hoppin'!

Day 1 is All About Me! Oh goodness. Let's start at the very beginning, since it's a very good place to start. Here are some obligatory baby shots. I had a pork belly and thought I was a super hero.

That elephant that I'm holding while dressed as Superman is named Ellie. I took him everywhere when I was little and practically couldn't function without him. I still have him, and I'm not ashamed to admit that, although I have learned to live without him by my side... He currently lives in my bedside table for safekeeping.

Moving on from my toddler years. Music has always been a huge part of my life, ever since I can remember. I can remember putting on shows and singing my heart out. I remember my first Broadway show like it was yesterday (it was Cats, by the way, and my teacher had to call home to tell my parents I was dancing around the classroom like a Cat. I can't believe I just said that.) I got really involved in theater during high school and got to play opposite my soon-to-be wife during my senior year... Here's a picture of us as the leads in The Music Man, and me (playing a middle-aged drunk) yelling at her (playing a pregnant lady). Ha!

Also, I just realized how frighteningly similar those pictures are. Random.

We also started working on the Hershey Trolley giving singing, guided, historical tours of the town. Essentially, I get paid to make a fool of myself while she gives information to tourists. It's a pretty great gig if you ask me! We still work there on and off during the summers and Christmas.

Yes, I'm the one dressed up as Santa. Throughout the course of our tour, I also play Milton Hershey's elderly father and mother. Before landing my permanent teaching gig, I was substitute teaching at a local elementary school and was asked, point blank, by a first grader... "Are you that guy from the trolley that dresses up like Santa Clause and a lady?" Yeah... I can't play Santa anymore. Can't risk that one again! We love our job so much that we used it for our wedding instead of a limousine.

We also had our engagement shots taken in downtown Hershey, and may or may not have snuck onto the golf course to get the shot with the factory in the background... Also, our photographer was amazing.

Speaking of our wedding... Isn't my wife gorgeous?! We got married in Founders Hall, which is part of the Milton Hershey School. My wife found out she was hired as a high school English teacher there a week before the wedding. Crazy.

I'm almost done, I swear! About a year ago, we bought our first house, and about a week after that we adopted our sweet, sweet pup Charlie. He is literally the world's cutest dog in the world. I also ran my first half-marathon this past year, in Hershey. I know, we're slightly Hershey crazy. Like, make you barf, crazy.

I'm really, really almost done, I swear! I can't wrap this up without talking about my amazing family... Seriously, they're the best. Here's a picture of my wife and I with our parents on our wedding day. They smiles say it all! I must also share a picture of my dear, sweet, amazing, supportive, encouraging mother, who drove 4 hours to be a guest reader in my classroom last year...

Well, there you have it! A little more, about little old me! Are YOU linking up? Can't wait to learn more about all my blogging friends!!

Wow, so many familiar places here! My hubby and I met as education majors at Elizabethtown. We both did teaching placements at Milton Hershey and I also did one at Hershey Primary. We are both happily living and teaching in central NJ now, but lots of great memories in that little piece of the world! :)
